I’ve been in the insurance business since 1974. I started as an agent. At the same time I was an agent, I also owned a commercial and residential construction company. In 1992, I switched over to the claims adjusting side of the insurance business.
My experience as an agent and contractor allowed me to rocket to the pinnacle of the claims profession. When I stopped being an employee, I was an Executive General Adjuster in the Global Technical Division of the largest independent adjusting firm in the world. I handled the largest, most complicated property and casualty losses.

Many times, people who have had a loss are on the raw edge of emotion. Isn’t is natural to be fearful in a situation where you don’t feel you’re in control…where you don’t know what will happen next, and you’re scared you’ll be “ripped off?” Most everyone has heard a story from a relative or friend about an insurance claim that went badly.

Insurance companies like to use aftermarket parts when they repair your vehicle. But cheap aftermarket parts are inferior to original equipment manufactured parts. Your policy entitles you to return your car to pre-loss condition...which means OEM parts, not replacement parts.
Travelers Insurance is running a great ad about aftermarket parts. A rattlesnake sneaks up on a rabbit and starts shaking his rattles. But the rabbit notices that the snake's rattles are actually a baby's rattle just attached to the snakes tail. The rabbit, and then all his friends, start laughing their cottontails off. The voice tells you that just because parts fit doesn't mean they are the right parts. And Travelers is telling you to insist on OEM parts.
Travelers wants you to believe that they repair with OEM parts. But when you actually have a claim, you'll have to fight with them over aftermarket parts. That's the claims process.
